Oikeo Men’s Call #13 – A Prayer Cypher

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
– Psalm 119:11(KJV)

This month’s men’s call wasn’t just a conversation. It was a cypher—not of bars, but of blessings. A rhythm of realness. A prayer circle that moved with the same energy as a freestyle session but hit even harder… because this time, it was directed to God.

Let’s be honest: We, as men, can talk. We can go hours on sports, politics, money, and muscle. But when it’s time to talk to God, we get silent. We cross our arms. We nod instead of speak. We mumble instead of declare.

That has to change.

These calls are a space where ego goes out the door. Because real power shows up when you get honest. When you pray with your whole chest. When you speak the Word like you believe it’s alive.

The Power of Speaking Scripture

The spirit gets weak out there. Life be life-ing. Bills stack. Bodies break down. Grief shows up uninvited. And in those moments, your flesh wants to give up. But your spirit needs to speak up.

Say it out loud. Even when it’s shaky. Especially when it’s shaky. The Word changes things starting with you.

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
– Romans 10:17

Brothers, you’ve got to memorize some scripture. Keep them in your pocket like spiritual ammo. So when life comes for you, your soul already has a response:

Short Scriptures to Memorize & When to Use Them:

  • 1 John 4:4 – “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.”
→ Use when fear, doubt, or temptation creeps in. Say it out loud. Say it until you believe it.
  • Isaiah 41:10 – “Fear not, for I am with you.”
→ Use before surgery, interviews, conflict, or anything uncertain.
  • Psalm 23:1 – “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.”
→ Use when you feel like you’re falling behind. When provision feels thin.
  • Romans 8:28 – “All things work together for the good…”
→ Use in loss, disappointment, or confusion.
  • Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
→ Use before stepping into anything that scares you.

A Prayer Cypher for the Soul

The call this month flowed like music. No one had to be perfect. No one needed big churchy words. It was just real men getting real with God.

It started with gratitude. Moved into grief for friends gone too soon. Circled back to fathers and sons preparing for surgery. Then it hit joy. Then strength. Then surrender. Each man stepping into the beat of prayer and dropping what was on his heart.

This is how we fight our battles.

Not in silence. Not alone. But together. Loud. Unapologetic. Not worried about how it sounds, but about what it breaks open.
