We are living in turbulent times. The headlines, the division, the chaos — it’s enough to shake even the strongest among us. But as people of God, we don’t stand on shifting sand. We stand on a firm foundation.
Staying Rooted in a World Gone Crazy
The Apostle Paul reminded Timothy that faith isn’t something shallow — it’s generational, it’s proven, it’s tested. In 2 Timothy 1:5, he calls out the sincere faith that lived in Timothy’s family and now lived in him. That same faith lives in us today. But we must tend to it.
Paul warns later in 2 Timothy 3 about people who will love themselves, love money, be boastful, and reject truth. His advice is clear: “Have nothing to do with them.” Staying grounded means being intentional about the company we keep and the influences we allow into our spirit.
Let Your Roots Go Deep
Colossians 2:7 encourages us: “Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
Roots don’t grow by accident. They grow because they’re watered, fed, and anchored in the right soil. In the same way, our faith must be intentionally nourished through prayer, worship, scripture, and fellowship.
What Is Our Foundation?
Our foundation is not our career, our connections, or even our own strength. Our foundation is the Lord Himself.
“I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.”
– Psalm 18:3 (NIV)
When storms come — and they will — the only reason we stand is because we are anchored in the One who never changes.
The Takeaway
This call was a reminder and a charge: Stay rooted. Guard your spirit. Let your faith grow deep in Christ so you won’t be moved by the chaos around you.
- Protect your faith by guarding your influences.
- Keep your roots deep in Christ through prayer and scripture
- Remember your foundation — the Lord is your rock, your refuge, and your deliverer.

Posted at 14:30h, 05 AugustWe do indeed have a firm foundation in Jesus and we need reminders of that like today’s message! And the portions of Tracy’s closing prayer about submitting and letting go in order to allow God to work in the challenges we face, and that God has overcome the world and its darkness, were a great blessing.
