“He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.”
–Matthew 8:26 (NIV):
Oikeo’s 2nd Anniversary Prayer Call was one for the books—a powerful gathering where men and women came together in unity, faith, and boldness, lifting prayers not just for ourselves, but for our communities, our country, and the challenges ahead. This was also the first joint call with the Men’s Prayer group, and the energy was undeniable. In the face of growing uncertainty, economic instability, and widespread concern (like looming federal layoffs), the family of faith pressed in and reminded each other who holds the storm.
The centering verse came from Matthew 8:26 (NIV): “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’”
It was a timely reminder that while the storms of life rage around us, we have no reason to fear. Jesus is with us, fully in control, ready to calm the winds and waves. The question He asked the disciples is the same question posed to us: Why are you afraid?
When the Storm Rages, Our Faith Must Rise
This anniversary call became a spiritual charge to shift our focus from fear to faith. Despite financial pressures, job uncertainties, and societal unrest, God is calling us to:
✅ Stay calm in the chaos.
✅ Trust His provision.
✅ Prepare our spirits, not just our circumstances.
We don’t have to collapse under pressure. Instead, like the disciples, we can call on Jesus to calm our storms, knowing that He has never left us, and never will.
Supporting Scriptures for Strength in Uncertain Times
Psalm 46:1-2 (NIV):
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.”
Isaiah 43:2 (NIV):
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Romans 8:28 (NIV):
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
The Takeaway
This anniversary call wasn’t just a celebration; it was a commissioning. God is reminding us that even when storms swirl and trials press in, we are not to fear. We are to stir up the gift, walk in courage, and cling to the promises that He is still in control.
As layoffs loom and chaos stirs, God is our source. He is preparing tables before us—even in the presence of our enemies.
