Get Into the Victory Formation,
A Word By Dr. E. Dewey Smith
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy
and find grace to help in time of need.(Hebrews 4:16) NK
This week, the House of Hope Atlanta shared a brief, yet impactful, sermon by Dr. E. Dewey Smith on their FB page. In this sermon, Dr. Smith used a sports reference called “The Victory Formation,” which is a strategic play in American football. In this play, when a team is winning and wants to secure their victory, they take a knee instead of running any more plays. It’s a symbolic act that signifies their confidence in winning.
Dr. Smith took this football concept and turned it into a meaningful analogy for life. He explained that, in life, all you often need to do to secure a victory is to get into your personal “victory formation” and take a knee, symbolizing your trust in the outcome. However, he pointed out that many people are still running, signifying that they haven’t yet recognized or embraced the victory that’s available to them. To gain a deeper understanding of this insightful connection between football and life, I encourage you to watch the video. You will not be disappointed.
