Oikeo Call #19

“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying,
our spirits are being renewed every day.”

– 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NLV)

This month’s prayer call was especially was moving as we mourned the loss of one of our beloved prayer warriors to cancer. As we gathered, the theme of our prayers focused on understanding God’s will in times of loss and the hope we find in His promises.

Our reflections were anchored in the comforting words of 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NLV): “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.” This verse guided our prayers, along with 2 Corinthians 5.

2 Corinthians 5 is a chapter where the Apostle Paul discusses the temporary nature of our earthly bodies compared to the eternal nature of the heavenly bodies God has prepared for us. Paul emphasizes that while we live in our current bodies, we are separated from the Lord, but we walk by faith, not by sight. The chapter also talks about the ministry of reconciliation, where Paul urges believers to live for Christ and be ambassadors for Him, sharing the message of reconciliation with others.

The call was filled with heartfelt prayers, shared grief, and a collective leaning on God’s word to find comfort. We were reminded that even in loss, our spirits are continually renewed by His grace, and we can rest in the knowledge that our loved ones are with Him.

Special Announcement: Join us on September 22nd at 6 pm EST for a special Book Discussion on “Promises of God” by Dr. Edith. Dr. Edith will be present on the call to discuss her book, and selected passages will be read aloud. To order your copy of the book, text the author.
